Fisco Fieldbus Intrinsically Safe Concept
The FISCO model is designed to enhance the performance of intrinsically safe
fieldbus networks
by moving closer to the limits of safety by assessing testing the system as
a whole, not just the component parts. This includes 'trapezoidal' (or electronic
current limited) power supplies,
testing and device enhancements.

Technical notes
One noticeable change is the device. These have now increased their power
rating, under fault
conditions, to 1.8 Watts (or above in some cases). The power supplies have
also changed to a
more trapezoidal system in place of traditional linear power supplies. The
Series 100 uses linear
power supplies. The purpose of the Series 100 is to maintain EN50020 and to
offer EN50020
where there is preference for a conventional and proven standard, or where
EN 50020 devices
need to be attached to an intrinsically safe system, EN50020 devices cannot
be attached to FISCO power supplies no matter what cable connectors are used.
Flameproof Enclosures
Hawke has developed a complete range of electrical enclosures and junction
boxes for use in weatherproof, increased safety
EExe and flameproof EExd applications.
Available in various square, rectangular and circular formats, they are manufactured
in stainless steel, mild (carbon) steel, cast iron, glass filled polyester
(GRP) and polypropylene. Flameproof Enclosures
Rail mounted terminals are fitted as standard to all enclosures, with direct
mounted terminals as an option on certain junction box types
.
All Hawke enclosures supplied complete with terminal assemblies have certification
for specific hazardous area Ex applications. Several enclosures are also AExe
listed by UL / cUL and CSA certified for use in Class 1, Zones 1and 2 in compliance
with the NEC and CEC codes respectively. Empty Ex enclosures for final certification
by the end user can also be supplied on request.
Multi Cable Transits
Our Transit system provides a simple and effective method of safely sealing
multiple cables and flowline/pipes penetrations made through fireproof or
watertight bulkheads in ships, offshore installations, commercial and civil
buildings. The system is designed to be fire, smoke, fume, water, vermin and
gas tight - rated up to four hours fire protection and with hydrostatic pressures
up to 10 bar or 6 bar pneumatic.
The main advantage of our system is colour coded cable/pipe tolerant blocks
which provide a simple method of visually checking that the correct combination
of cable/pipe diameter and block size has been correctly selected both before-and
perhaps more importantly - after an installation has been completed.
